Nepotism, also known as ‘favoritism’ occurred in various forms in many nations. It is related to giving benefits to your loved ones. And, in all industries, businesses, politics, there is always small or huge nepotism that exists. It is the human tendency to exchange the benefits with his favorites. But, sometimes it took rights from other people who are well deserving of these positions.
Meaning of Nepotism
The word ‘Nepotism’ comes in the 17th century and originates from the French word népotisme. Originally, it is an Italian word nepotismo with the word root nipote that means ‘nephew’.
According to lexico, the meaning of this word is to privileges bestowed on the ‘nephews’ of the pope, who were in many cases their illegitimate sons.
It Exists Everywhere
Nepotism exists everywhere, and many times people appreciate it. Sometimes people feel cheated as they are losing the desired position. Although they have the same skills or better skills for the required position, favoritism took that position.
History is full of such examples where individuals are accused of taking sides of their favorites. From mythological stories to archeological proofs, powerful nations like the U.S. to developing nations like India, nepotism exists everywhere.
In all industries, businesses, politics, and other aspects of life, it exists everywhere. If we blame others, then we should first recognize our character too that we are not supporting it anywhere.
Common Men Should not Victimize
It is human psychology to take favor of his loved one. Accused would be the one who does hardship and achieves that powerful position. He might be offering or doing favoritism only because he knows the skills of his loved one keenly.
But, if he took rights from someone to show his skills or ruining someone’s career, it is wrong. It should be stopped. In many nations, there are strict laws against nepotism.

On an individual happens openly and we all are all guilty of watching it silently. Is blaming the system enough? Will there ever be change? Are we going to see a monumental shift in the narrative on how outsiders are treated? pic.twitter.com/DKmR1JhlDV
