The Battle of Plassey was the most important part of Indian history. It showed the way for the Britishers to rule India.it was the turning point in the history of India. It paved the way for British dominance over Bengal. And, later Britishers dominating the whole nation. The Battle of Plassey increased British fame and power. The war took place between the British army and the Nawab of Bengal– Siraj-ud-Daulah.
Why War?
The Britishers already had the power to trade in Bengal without any customs duty. Mughal Emperor Farrukh Siyar authorizes them to trade in this manner. It leads to a huge loss in revenue to Nawabs of Bengal. Also, it gave more power in the Britishers’ hands.
That time the Nawab of Bengal was Siraj-ud-Daulah. He wanted to teach a lesson to the British army for their misusing of their powers. He attacked the English factory at Kassim Bazar. He arrested the company officials and blocked English Ships. Then, he had captured the Fort Willian, a fort of the British East India Company in Calcutta.
This news amplified the heat among the Company officials in Madras. Officials sent the force under the direction of Robert Clive. Eventually, the war took place between the Britishers and the Nawab— Siraj-ud-Daulah. The battle was held at Plassey in 1757.
What was the Result of the Battle of Plassey?
No power can exist in front of the Britishers at that time. And, the unity in the British army was their strength. While in the case of Nawab he had cheated by his right hand–Mir Jafar. He was one of the important commanders of Nawab’s army. But, he cheated in order to become a ruler. He joined hands with the British as they promised him to make him the Nawab of Bengal.
Therefore, in the first battle of the Indian ruler with the British, the ruler was defeated.

Mir Jafar– A Puppet Ruler
Mir Jafar was a commander in the Nawab army. He deceived him to get his throne and power. He shook hands with the British. And, later after becoming Nawab turns to a puppet ruler of the British.
The company’s officials asked high demands from Mir Jafar, which he never fulfilled.

What Benefits the British Get After the Plassey War?
This battle gave major gains to the British. With this win, they got the free trading rights in Bengal. Also, they got the Zamindari of 24 Parganas. They had also got a great sum of money as compensation for the attack on Calcutta.
They also get benefits from the Nawab–Mir Jafar appointed by them. They use the multiple resources of Bengal and drain their wealth.
