This year, on 22 April 2020, we are going to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. Climate action—climate change—change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and a life support system that makes our world habitable. In the previous year, the theme for Earth Day is “Protect our species”.
Earth, the Blue Planet of the solar system, is the only known place to harbor life. In order to create awareness to protect our environment, the celebration of Earth Day begins. However, initially, it was celebrated in the US to inspire people to conserve it.
Now, this day is celebrated across the globe in 193 countries by billions of people.
Nowadays, humans harm the environment at a very high rate and generate carbon footprints. They release a huge amount of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and pollute it in various aspects. The unnecessary usage of fossil fuel leads the earth to a severe situation.
To conserve and protect our environment, we must reduce carbon emission. To satisfy their needs, humans have no right to harm the atmosphere.
Coronavirus: A Wake-up Call From the Environment
This year almost one-third of the world’s population is locked in the home due to pandemic COVID-19. Many reports by environmentalists said that the environment is improving due to lockdown. It clearly shows that only humans are deteriorating the quality of the environment and its substances.
We must take this epidemic as an alarm. If we will not take it seriously and do not take effective action in this direction then it will affect us. It causes a more severe impact on human health and generates a drastic change in the environment.
Celebration of Earth Day 2020:
To celebrate Earth Day 2020, we can participate in various online programs and conferences. People who belong to different countries can run the programs individually to create awareness to protect the earth. We must use the sources available from nature in an effective manner.
