Let’s take a break from this busy life and refine our thought process and let’s remember our golden days with our grandparents. I am sure most of us would have spent at least some time with our grandparents those beautiful childhood stories, homemade foods fed to us by our grandparents with such love and care that a single morsel is worth remembering and more precious than any continental food around the world.
I personally cherish those moments which I spent with my grandparents those innocent childish smile when we did something for them out of love for them, that satisfaction on their face when they received our love and cherished it more than we can ever imagine. But nowadays, this beautiful relation is like a myth because of two major things technology and micro family trend.
Nowadays we are so involved in technology and self-obsession, we started hanging around with our friends a lot and started leading a trendy life in our own accord, that we started neglecting them, and that ends to the old age home a place where they feel like home but that’s not home it’s an illusion to make them feel like home where they make friends and family of their own choice make an impossible attempt to forget their old one.
A world of their own with people to give them importance. Just take a minute and think when we love someone and they start neglecting us we feel like being broken to the core think of it what they must have felt when their own child and grandchildren neglect them constantly because they are so busy in their life that they don’t have time for them.
Now let’s go to the figurative facts. There are 728 Old Age Homes in India today. Detailed information about 547 homes is available. Out of these, 325 homes are free of cost while 95 old age homes are on pay & stay basis, 116 homes have both free as well as pay & stay facilities and 11 homes have no information.
These figures indicate the current situation of our society were the elder most member of the family is neglected on the regular basis it won’t be surprising if this number will increase in upcoming years, A responsibility to keep our grandparents with us and to give them the love and respect they deserve for all those non-expectant years they gave to us with there experience of life and society should be worth appreciating.
I hope this article will change the perspective of people towards their parents and they will be more responsible and caring towards them instead of leaving them in an old age home.
