Hey guys! I am back with a new topic. Nowadays there is a new service which is heating up the buzz around railways. That is the Pod hotel, first started in Osaka, Japan in late 1970.
It was made so that white-collared employees could rest in the tiny pod with basic facilities like TV and alarm. This concept became popular because of its affordable price, and now this service came in the attention of the Indian government. Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The first Pod hotel will be made on Mumbai central Railway station by December 2020. There will be ultra-modern pods and capsules to provide night stay for tired passengers.
This pod hotel will be cheaper than the at presently available retiring rooms. Tender for 30 pods was already passed by catering and e-ticketing brigade of IRCTC. These pods are targeted to be launched by December 2020 and the tendering process for this construction has already begun. These pods will be developed within 6 months from the time of finalization of tender. The designs and specifications of these pods will be based on the first pod hotel of India, which is privately run in Andheri since 2017.
This pod will be available for 12 hours for a passenger. These pods will be available in two categories Classic and Suite. There will be a place to keep baggage with charging socket and locker facility. The suite pod will hold the double bed for two passengers with Wi-Fi facility a locker, another attraction of IRCTC will be the changing areas, washrooms, lounge area and even a cafeteria.
So three cheers to IRCTC for such a wonderful service which is about to be introduced in Indian Railway. This will be a future changing project for Indian Railway.
